Fort Whoop-Up Compound

Southside Building

Bunkhouse
Warehouse
- The warehouse is filled with furs waiting to be loaded in the bull wagons for their trip south and goods to be traded to the Blackfoot including tobacco, guns, blankets, cloth, sugar, canned goods, whisky, iron pots, mirrors, knives, powder and so-on. All goods were shipped north via bullwagons from Fort Benton, Montana about 10 or 12 days distant by bull wagon.
Indian Trade Room - The trade room is where the American traders and their Blackfoot customers negotiated their deals.

Bastiens

Located at opposite corners and offset from the walls are two blockhouses or bastiens. In one, a canon waited, ready be fired at anyone who attempted to break into the compound. Another ready-to-attack canon is aimed at the gate.
